TOMORROW: Hearing on Terrorism and Cryptocurrency
(WASHINGTON) – On Thursday, June 9th , the Subcommittee on Intelligence & Counterterrorism, chaired by Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), will hold a hearing to examine the cryptocurrency industry and their perspectives on how to address terrorists’ use of digital financing and areas where the government can do more to catch and prevent illicit use. Terrorists, both foreign and domestic, have increasingly taken advantage of digital financing to attempt to fundraise. As the industry has become more established, companies have worked with government and law enforcement to reduce the occurrence and address instances of illicit use of cryptocurrency.
This hearing will be streamed live on YouTube and on the Committee’s website.
